James W. Davidson

JAMES W. DAVIDSON - Is the present supervisor of Mahomet township, and son of Thomas A. and Elizabeth J. DAVIDSON. He was born in Ohio March l6, 1844. When about nine years of age his parents moved to their present location. He enjoyed good advantages, and for several years attended Wesleyan University. When about twenty years of age, he branched out for himself trading in stock and grain.
March 26, 1869, he married Miss Minnie PITTMAN, who was born in Ohio, of which state her parents were natives. They were married in Missouri, where Mr. Davidson had been engaged in business for some two years. His wife survived her marriage only six months, when she died of consumption. During the war he enlisted in the 71st regiment Illinois volunteer infantry; his term of service expiring, he returned home. He is a republican, and has filled numerous local offices, always acceptably to the community, and is said to be one of the most active and efficient supervisors the township has ever had. After the death of his wife he returned to Mahomet, where in partnership with his brother he is extensively engaged in the grain business, in connection with which they operate a mill and elevator. He is an active and energetic business man, and one that bids fair to make his mark in the community.
