Normal, Ill, Jan. 17, 1887 Mr. Mart Kearns, Philo, Illinois Dear Cousin. I just received your letter - And in reply will say that I shall accept school on the given terms $35.00 per month. I do not know just when school closes, but I will be home in time to begin duty. Where is the school Mart, is it the home school? Who are the directors? I am very thankful to you for the interest you have taken in me. I enjoy school very much and shall be very sorry to leave but as I must teach next winter. I prefer beginning in the spring, so that I will have had some experience. I am due to teach this term and now have a class of seven little ones in the Primary. Do you think it will be necessary for me to write to the directors? Well I must be at my lessons now. I hope you are all well. I should be pleased to hear from you when convenient. from Your Cousin Anna Troy |
M. Anna Troy is buried at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Tolono. She was b. in1866 and d. in 1890. I can only guess that she was being hired to teach at Martin Kearns' home. I like the part of her having 7 children in Primary School Has that ever changed! |
