DR. DANIEL P. MCCLURE has practiced medicine at Rantoul, longer than any other physician. He was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, August 28th, 1837, of Scotch ancestry. In 1846, his father moved with the family to Ashland county, Ohio, where Dr. MCClure attended the common schools and an academy, at Hayesville. He began the study of medicine in 1859, with Dr. Case, of Londonville, Ohio, and began practice with him in 1861. October 10th, 1861, he enlisted as assistant to Dr. H. P. Anderson, surgeon of the 64th Ohio regiment. His regiment was attached to the 3d Brigade, 2d Division, of the 4th army corps, and took part in the battles of Shiloh, Stone River, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Mission Ridge, and other minor engagements. Dr. MCClure was mustered out, in Texas, in l865. Previous to the war, he attended lectures at a medical college at Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from the same institution, February, 1867. Directly afterward, he came to Champaign county, Illinois. He remained two years in the city of Champaign, and in the spring of 1869, came to Rantoul. He has here had a large practice, and is a popular and successful physician. He was married, April 1867, to Miss Betty DRUMHELLER, of Ashland county, Ohio. He has been closely occupied with his professional duties, and has had little to do with politics, but has been a Republican. He is now the oldest physician at Rantoul.
