Hanford Reynolds

HANFORD REYNOLDS was born at Bedford, Westchester county, New York, December 27th, 1833. His education he received principally at the Union Academy, at Bedford. In the year 1856, when twenty-two years of age, he came west, and settled in Genesco, Henry county, Illinois, and there began the business of surveying. March 23d, 1852, he married Susan A. ROBERTS, who was born in Orange county, Indiana, and came to Illinois in 1851. Mr. Reynolds in 1863 bought a farm in Knox county. In 1868 he purchased all of section 14, township 22, range 10, at that time raw prairie. When he moved here there was no settlement within a mile. In politics he is a Republican. He was chosen the first supervisor of Harwood township, in whose organization he was mainly instrumenta1, and is one of the best citizens of the township.
