DR. PHILIP MOSIER was born near New Albany, Ind., December 31st, 1826. When he was seven years old his father removed to Fountain county, in the western part of the State.
At the age of twenty, Dr. Mosier began reading medicine with Dr. Wilson Turner, of Jacksonville, Indiana, and afterward at Annapolis, in Parke county, Indiana, where he remained two years, during which time he attended a Quaker school known as the Western Agricultural College. He afterward taught school two terms, in order to raise money to buy books, and prepare himself to engage in his profession.   He began practice, in March, 1850, at Poolsville, twelve miles west of Lafayette, Indiana, but soon after removed to Newtown, Vermilion county, Ill. He located at Homer, in Champaign county, in April, 1851, practiced medicine eight years, since which time he has been carrying on a farm, dealing in real estate, and loaning money.  He has been assessor of Homer township for the last fifteen years, with the exception of three or four terms, and in the spring 1818 was also elected supervisor.  He was married, in April, 1851, to Miss D. Jane BURTON, of Fountain county, Indiana.
