Lineages - White Family

Submitted by Steadman (Ted) White

This is a photo of Urbana Boy Scout Troop 2, circa 1920/21.

The only one I know in the photo is my father, Leo Glen White. He is in the front row, left (light colored shirt) holding the top of the flag. I would estimate his age to be about 12 or 13 which would date the photo about 1920 or 1921.

My father was born in Ludlow. He had two brothers, Warren and Willard, and two sisters, Ruth and Dorothy. I believe Golden White, my grandfather, was a rural mail carrier up until his death in 1940. My grandmother's maiden name was Mary Richardson.

Other than a few stories passed on to me by my Aunt Ruth before she died, I know very little about my father's family. I do know that the family lived in that area as early as 1831. I have a handmade sampler done by my Gr-Grandmother Antrim and it is dated 1831 with a stiched replica of their home. Family names I am aware of are White, Richardson, Antrim, and Dillon.

If anyone can provide any further information, I would love to hear from you.
