Died-On Sunday last, at the residence of Mrs. Charles Ellis, there departed this life Mrs. Sarah C. Stanage, wife of James Stange. For a long while she had been in feeble health, and her death was an event for which her friends and relatives were not wholly unprepared. The immediate cause it is difficult to state, but, in general terms, it may be said that partial paralysis, superinduced by general debility from prolonged illness, was the cause of her death. She was in her sixty-third year, having been born in Greenbriar county, Virginia, April 1, 1813. Her prents emigrated to West Liberty, Ohio, when she was quite young, and it is there that most of her life was spent, herself and husband settling in this city in the year 1866. At the age of twelve years she united with the Methodist church, and from that time to the day of her death was an earnest and devoted christian. During the time she was in the enjoyment of good health she was active and zealous in all good works; and in later years, while feebly passing down the shadowy side of life, by precept, example and good avice, exerted an influence for good that will live after her. Indeed, it seemed that devotion to her children and the faithful service of her divine Master were the leading characteristics of her life.

The funeral services occurred on Monday afternoon, at the residence of Mr. Ellis, and were, largely attended by those drawn together by a common sorrow at the closing up of a life so full of promise for the future. The services were conducted by Rev. Leyenberger, who read the xxiii psalm, that portion of scripture selected by Mrs. Stanage before her death, after which a hymn was sung, and then followed remarks highly appropriate to the occasion. A large concourse of friends, who seemed unwilling to omit the last office of respect to one so worthy, followed her remains to Mt. Hope cemetery, where they were deposited in a vault. She will be sincerely mourned by a larage circle of friends and relatives here and also at the place of her former residence in Ohio. A husband, two sons and four daughters are likewide sadly befret by her loss.
